Our Goal

Our Goal has two parts: first, to help preserve one of the most ancient dog breeds on earth.  They're said to be among the most misunderstood dog breeds in the world, and after 40 years working with them, I am excited to share with you many of the things I have learned.

My primary goal, however, is to inspire others to seek out and get into nature. Our world is cluttered with noise, distractions, violence, and wars, to such an extent that people cannot become "grounded" and see and feel the beauty of nature and our Lord God, who created it for us to enjoy its peace.  It has been discovered that nature and its silence heal our physical beings, and I believe they heal our souls and bring us closer to God as well.

Regarding our first goal, the Alaskan Malamute dog breed dates back at least 10,000 years in Alaska. How do we preserve this majestic breed?

Although the Alaskan Malamute is an established AKC breed, we still have much to learn about them, especially their physical traits, and about why their specific traits are necessary for them to be compatible with Arctic Alaska. The traits we discover will never be learned in an AKC dog show, which doesn't emphasize the "working side" enough, and will enhance our knowledge of the breed, preserving its originality for future generations to be useful and compatible to thrive and work in Arctic Alaska.

The way we learn about them is by taking them to their homeland, Arctic Alaska, a place where they are absent, and by traveling there during the winter months.

​

In this way, we learn and can document which traits are necessary for them to thrive in an Arctic environment, specifically Arctic Alaska, which is unlike any other Arctic region on Earth because it circumnavigates the largest mountain range north of the Arctic Circle, and has unusually high amounts of precipitation and fierce winds for an Arctic region.  ​​​
